This Graflex Century Graphic includes a Noritar 100mm f/3.5 lens, Graflok back with ground glass, Singer Graflex RH8 roll fill holder and Kalart side mounted range finder. Cosmetically the camera is very clean and appears to be in working condition. I cannot gaurantee it's working due to the fact that I have never used this camera and am not sure I really know how. From the research I have done on this camera I believe it was manufactured in 1962.
The shutter still seems accurate. I tried each of the different shutter speeds (T, B, 1, 2, 4, 8, 15, 30, 60, 125, 250, 500) and each setting seems to operate it they should. I do believe there is a connection for a flash as well.
The Graflok Back works perfect although the ground glass maybe suspect. I am not to sure though because I do not understand the function of the glass. The ground glass seems pretty clean though. Also there is a person on eBay that does sell the ground glass for this model.
The Singer/Graflex RH8 roll film holder is very clean and in good shape, and also seems to operate as designed. This camera does seem to predate that Singer/Graflex era and I believe this was purchased years after the camera.
The Kalart Side Mounted Range Finder is harder for me to judge the condition of. I am really not sure how it operates. The lenses seem a bit cloudy. There is a mount on the top for a light.
The more I researched this camera the more I began thinking I should keep it and learn more as its history was very fascinating. But time and money keep me from pursuing yet another hobby. My loss is your gain!
The "Century Graphic" is a miniature version of the Pacemaker Crown Graphic belonging to the popular Graflex Press Camera Family. Molded in "mahoganite," a patented plastic, it originally comes with a black or the more distinctive red bellows and a graflok back (which became a medium and large format standard). This camera also has the optional side-mounted Kalart rangefinder and top-mounted optical tube viewfinder.
Manufactured from 1949 to 1970, it was a very popular camera with Press Photographers that wanted a lot of flexibility. The range of accessories available include removable backs for pack film, roll films and sheet films in a variety of sizes; an assortment of lenses, range-finders, viewfinders, focusing lights and electronic flashes.
If you notice something on this camera or have a correction to my description please let me know. This camera is very fascinating and is sure be a enjoyable camera for the right person.
